Controlled crying my experience.

For many of us with toddlers bedtime can be a pain in the bum in my experience i was very bad at giving in and made the mistake of lying with my daughter until she was asleep. I found out very quickly this was not a good idea as my daughter would wake up when i was gone and would not sleep until i went to bed. As a result mine and her dads relationship suffered as there was no time for us we decided it had to change we need our time back to be a couple not just mum and dad 24/7. I spent hours searching the internet trying every trick in the book none worked until i combined a few ideas i found online and a few tips frome her lovely grandparents. Alot of the advice was based on controlled crying which mortified me as being a mother i hate my little girl crying but i decided to give it a go.

I found on its own conrolled crying did not work for me as i couldnt handle the crying and screaming and felt like i was failing my child. In the end i came up with my own plan there was some tear and tantrums but it has worked and only took 3 days which was a bonus. I will say this may not work for everybody as all children are different and im not qualifed to say hey do this it will work as it may not . This is what i did and if you choose to give it ago good luck.

  1.  We established a bed time routine which will vary person to person ours is tea , wind down time , bath time , story time and bed.
  2. On the first night i sat out of sight going shhh shh shhh repeatedly until she fell asleep , sneeking out of the room 5 mins after shed dropped off. I think about 30 mins later she woke up. All i did was put her back to bed shh shh shhhing until i was out of site behind the door going shh shh shh until i felt she was asleep which worked and she stayed asleep until the next day yay not bad for night one i was shocked lol .
  3. On the second night i did the same as night one but sat outside the door shhing until i knew she was asleep . Again after about 2 hours she woke up so i put her back to bed and sh shh shhh from outside the room again until i knew she was asleep then she stayed asleep all night.
The third night was amazing i again shhhed her to sleep but this time further down the hall until i knew she was asleep and to my amazment she didnt wake up at all and has been sleeping really well without me ever since. Im not sure why it worked or even how but after months of nightly battles my princess was finally sleeping and i could do grown up stuff and not be in bed at 7.30 at night with no time to relax and unwind. Thanks for reading hope i can help somebody please leave me a comment if this helps you and let me no your experiances.

Disclamer i do not judge anybody and would appriciate no nasty comments.
